This hutch cabinet top is a relic from another era when families stored china and other beautiful glassware in their dining rooms. I drove by this for two days before I enlisted the help of my neighbor and husband to bring it home. I couldn't keep it out of my mind. I knew I could transform it into something fabulous. What did it take?
A scrub down with degreaser to get years of gunk out of all the nooks and crannies.
A few coats of primer then a transformation with Restoration Bronze and Perfect White paint by Melange.
Addition of leaf-patterned wallpaper to the back of the open shelves to add depth and character.
The transformation from lost relic to sophisticated and modern is wonderfully appealing to my senses and oddly satisfying - like hot apple cider on a crisp fall day. See the gallery below to view the transformation.
A new base to allow this hutch cabinet top to stand on its own.
